Leicester City made the trip to South London last weekend to take on Crystal Palace. Jamie Vardy continued to turn back the clock with a first half goal and Stephy Mavididi put Leicester ahead 2-0 early on in the second half.
The Foxes went on to concede just 90 seconds later and gave up a stoppage time penalty. Just minutes after coming on as a sub, Conor Coady made a rash challenge and Jean-Philippe Mateta scored his second goal of the match.
With the 2-2 draw, Leicester City’s place in the Premier League standings remained the same. They enter the weekend in 15th, with an 0-2-2 record.
While Leicester have scored in each game they’ve played, they’ve conceded seven goals in four matches. So, they’re still looking for their first clean sheet of the season.
Although 37, Vardy is still quick and a constant goal threat. He’s certainly capable of causing problems for Everton’s shaky defense However, fellow striker Patson Daka is out injured.
It’ll be interesting to see if Cooper starts relying more heavily on the youth. We wouldn’t be surprised if Bilal El Khannouss (20), Leicester’s big Summer signing, plays a role in midfield here. Meanwhile, Abdul Fatawu, who’s also 20, is an option in forward areas.
Everton Shorthanded in Defense
- Premier League Standings: 0-4 (20th)
- Premier League Form: L,L,L,L
- Form (All Competitions): L(PK), L,L,W,L
Everton went 2-0 up in the first half at Aston Villa last Saturday as Dwight McNeil scored and provided an assist. The Toffees suffered a meltdown and went on to lose 3-2. It was the second straight game Everton blew a two goal lead and went on to lose.
Now, they’re still without a point through four Premier League matches. Dyche reportedly has the “full backing” of the club’s hierarchy despite a woeful start to the campaign, which is their worst in 66 years.
Everton have consistently been in relegation battles over the last few years and their start to the campaign portends the same in 2024-25.
Plus, they haven’t won a road game in the Premier League since December 2023. Since then, they’ve compiled a 0-4-8 record away from Goodison Park.
The Toffees have also conceded seven times in their first two road matches.Thankfully, Everton’s next two fixtures following the Leicester match are at home.
On Tuesday, Everton managed a 1-1 draw at Southampton in the EFL Cup and went on to lose in penalties. Michael Keane picked up a knock in the match, which fellow center back James Tarkowski missed due to a back issue.
The defensive injuries are piling up for Everton. None of Jarrad Branthwaite, Seamus Coleman and Nathan Patterson are available on Saturday. Meanwhile, Vitaliy Mykolenko is set to return and Keane and Tarkowski are questionable.
We could see Jake O’Brien make his first Premier League start here and the defender had a superb season with Lyon in 2023-24.
Leicester City vs Everton Prediction
Neither the Foxes nor the Toffees have been able to pick up three points so far this season. That said, our Leicester City vs Everton prediction will steer clear of moneylines.
There’s no reason to believe in either of these teams, especially Everton, given their recent meltdowns. We do know that both teams are capable of scoring, though.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has scored in each of Everton’s last two games while Leicester City have scored in each of their four Premier League matches this season.
So, our Leicester City vs Everton prediction is that both teams will score, which has also occurred in four of the last five games between these sides.
That makes our Top Soccer Bet for the match “Both Teams to Score”. The best odds on our pick are currently -150 at Bet365.
