Champions League action continues on Wednesday with six matches. While Man City vs Inter Milan is clearly the highest-profile match, we’ll focus on the best bet of the bunch and make our Club Brugge vs Dortmund prediction later on.

Club Brugge are no strangers to the Champions League. They reached the Round of 16 in 2022-23 with wins over Bayer Leverkusen, FC Porto and Atletico Madrid on the way. 

Brugge were also UEFA Europa Conference League Semifinalists last season, putting together a 14 game unbeaten streak before losing to Fiorentina. 

Hans Vanaken, Brugge’s longtime attacking midfielder, managed seven goal contributions in the Conference League last season. 

Since then, Club Brugge have added Christos Tzolis and Gustav Nilsson to an already-potent attack. Early 2024-25 results have been auspicious, as Tzolis and Nilsson have both scored multiple goals and Club Brugge are on a four game winning streak. 

Although they reached the round of 16 last time around, Club Brugge’s Champions League history doesn’t exactly inspire confidence. They’ve only made it out of the group stage once but they won’t be easy to play against. 

Danish international winger Andreas Skov Olsen is one to watch here, as he’s scored three times already this season. Tzolis also tore up the 2. Bundesliga with Fortuna Dusseldorf last season and is another to watch. 

Midfielder Casper Nielsen has recovered from a muscle injury in time for this match, while Bjorn Meijer is out with a knee problem.

Guirassy Makes Borussia Dortmund Debut

Borussia Dortmund went on a fairytale run to the Champions League Final last season under Edin Terzic. 

Now, former Dortmund midfielder Nuri Sahin has taken charge of coaching duties and Wednesday marks his first Champions League match as a coach. Plus, longtime defender Mats Hummels is no longer on the Borussia Dortmund roster. 

Regardless, Dortmund have gotten off to a solid start this season, with two wins and a draw in the Bundesliga. 

BVB also defeated Phonix Lubeck 4-1 in the first round of the DFB-Pokal last month. While Dortmund frequently ground out results in the UCL last season, they’ve got a high-powered attack.  

Serhou Guirassy made his debut for Dortmund last Friday and the striker scored 28 goals in the Bundesliga for Stuttgart last season. 

Karim Adeyemi scored twice in the 4-2 win over Heidenheim and he could be in line for a breakout campaign along with Jamie Bynoe-Gittens. 

While right back Yan Couto had to withdraw from Brazil’s squad earlier this month, he’s available again. However, midfielder Gio Reyna could miss out. 

Club Brugge vs Dortmund Prediction

Meanwhile, Club Brugge have scored six goals in their last two games. Their new signings have hit the ground running and four of Brugge’s last five matches have finished with three or more goals.
